Who we are

CAFA Australia Pty Ltd (trading as CAFA Group), ABN 69 620 483 123, is a Sydney-based accounting and tax agent practice. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information across our websites at cafagroup.au and our services. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Contact details you provide through our website forms, by email or by phone, such as your name, email address, phone number and business name.
• Enquiry details you choose to share, such as the service you are interested in, whether you have an existing website, or your profession and licence details when applying to the CAFA Partners network.
• Engagement information when you become a client, including financial records, identification documents and other information reasonably necessary to provide accounting, taxation and related services.
• Website usage data such as pages visited and approximate location, collected through privacy-respecting analytics and our customer relationship management platform.

Tax file numbers

As a registered tax agent practice we collect tax file numbers (TFNs) where required to provide taxation services. TFNs are handled in accordance with the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015: they are collected only for authorised tax-related purposes, are never used for marketing, are never sold or disclosed except as authorised by taxation law, and are stored securely with access restricted to staff who need them to perform the work.

How we use your information

• To respond to your enquiry and arrange the consultation or call you requested.
• To provide accounting, taxation, superannuation administration and related services you engage us for.
• To introduce you to a licensed professional through the CAFA Partners network, and only with your consent.
• To meet our legal and professional obligations, including to the Australian Taxation Office and the Tax Practitioners Board.
• To improve our services and websites.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use TFNs or client financial information for marketing.

Who we share it with

• Regulators and government bodies such as the ATO, where required to perform the services or by law.
• Service providers that support our practice, such as cloud accounting platforms, document storage and our customer relationship management system. These providers may store data on servers located overseas; we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with Australian privacy law.
• CAFA Partners: licensed professionals in our referral network, only when you ask for or consent to an introduction, and only the information needed to make the introduction useful.

How we store and protect it

We are a cloud-based practice. Information is stored in reputable, access-controlled platforms with authentication safeguards. Access is limited to people who need it to do the work, and we retain records only as long as required by law and professional standards.

Cookies and analytics

Our websites use analytics to understand how pages are used, and our forms are powered by a customer relationship platform that may set cookies to function. We use this information in aggregate to improve the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Access, correction and complaints

You can request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by emailing admin@cafaaustralia.com.au. If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we will respond promptly.
